MATEUSZ KUCZ Member Collaborates with Motyka since 2003, though some would claim, since ever:) He takes care mainly for media and technical equipment and fecilities. Often, he becomes a handy man and repairs what is needed. Ocasionaly, but not that often, he brakes down something. During the projects it is him who is behind the camera. Sometimes he even turns the material into a movie! For instance, a movie called "piErVioSnki" about an EVS in Ukraine has been used by the Youth Organization to promote European Voluntary service in many countries.
PAWEŁ PIĄTKOWSKI Member I was draged into Motyka during my first years of my studies. Fortunately, that helped me to keep a distance from educational murmur and monotony. I have already done two beautiful projects on international exchange („The Nature in thumbnail” and „The Art Encounter”), but I still think about what to do next. During the time-outs while writing my thesis, I have been thinking of setting out for a voluntary service in Ukraine. East – here I come :) |

JACEK GĄDECKI "A Motykan with a sense for impossible ideas, his glasses and the goaty together with his special look give him the air of a scientist. His concern is anthropology and the architecture of the big city of New York. The miracles of modern technology still allow for impossible ideas to be developed from the distance. " Ewa Kwiesielewicz -

TOMASZ SZOPA Although he was born near Cracow it's Toruń he fell in love with deeply. He's finished sociology as well as almost, almost ethnology at the Copernicus University. However, his current projects don't keep him from his loved hobby - travelling. Discovering the eastern countries and getting people there engaged in work for the civil society is the essence of many Motyka initiatives. A friend of the small and pleasant moment in life.
MICHAŁ PIOTROWSKI 23 years old, single :) Distinctive marks: red curls and lately also a "holenderka" (kind of hat). He found his way to Motyka through Jacek G. (thank you Great Mentor:) He stays loyal to "Free the book" and since lately gets (increasingly) involved into global education. As a participant in 'Bukovina - a land of cultural diversity' he also makes a lot of international friends. And beyond 'Motyka'...he adores chorals, spinach and everything (?) orange. He is a large helping hand stretched out widely. And he can cook...:)

AGNIESZKA ANIELSKA 22 years of age, angel-like not only in her name...As a trainer for the Polish Humanitarian Organisation she endeavours in humanitarian education for Toruń youths. Her latest brainchild is the School of Global Thinking, even though she also find times for 'Free the Book'. She likes the sound of Alchemika. Other characteristic hallmarks: above-average intellect, incorrigible enthusiasm and an addiction to sun :)

Her free time she spends as a volunteer with Motyka, which she got to know thanks to Magda Abraham. Her activities started with a workcamp in Germany in 2001. Well, she stayed with us...

PAWEŁ CHRUSTOWSKI He's put a ring on the finger of a Toruń girl hailing from Berlin. He's just graduated in ecology and can call his job nature conservationist. Still this doesn't prevent him from organising international exchanges. Co-ordinator of the "Under one roof" programme and apart from Motyka he's a passionate dancer and a slightly less passionate fan of sailing.

| MELANIE HENZE (15.05-30.06.2007) Melanie that's my name, I'm a globetrotter and currently I stopped at Motyka. I'm staying in Toruń for two months. As a student apprentice I help realising "impossible ideas". Normally I study and live in Potsdam (near Berlin) but throughout last year my mother could find me more often in Poland than in Germany. I was born in Frankfurt upon Oder. The first contact with Polish I had at school. Although I'm studying hard there's still a lot of work to "perfection" :) | | JOHANNES HECHLER (01.07-15.09.2006) Hello, I'm Johannes, I'm German and no, nie mówię dużo po polsku! After my EVS year I didn't want to stop moving. Therefore I asked Motyka if I could volunteer with them and they accepted me. Now I live in their magnificent city, sit in their office and eat all their biscuits. Life is great. | |
| PETER MARTIN (01.07-31.08.2007) After studying half a year in Toruń, I did not want to leave this wonderful town in summer yet and therefore I went on to look for an internship and I found MOTYKA. During my time here, I was responsible for the supervision of the homepage and, together with "Politischer Jugendring Dresden", I organized a german-polish project. If somebody still wants to learn something, he should come to MOTYKA! | |
| JAN-HENDRIK LAUER (03.09-3.12.2007.) I have finished my studies in political science this year and now I'm doing thanks to a scholarship from the German-Polish Youth Office and the EU-program Leonardo da Vinci an internship at Motyka in the beautiful city of Toruń. An internship at an organisation "for impossible measures" - that hits the spot for me, because the old slogan "nothing is impossible" still holds. And who works at Motyka knows that this isn't just a slogan: an ecological Polish-Spanisch-Armenian-Georgian youthproject for two weeks? Impossible? Not for Motyka! I'm very happy to work here in Toruń together with a lot of young committed and creative people with a lot of wonderful ideas. Everyday I learn something new. And if I'm not at Motyka, I indulge my passion and play basketball at the university. Yes Torun has much going for it.

| KATHARINA HOFFMANN (15.07-31.08.2007) An internship at MOTYKA? I can only recommend it to you! People here are really nice and always ready to help and even if one doesn't speak good Polish, they are very patient. Already one year ago, I got to know MOTYKA - back then, I was a participent at one of their projects. Nowadays, I am helpig to organize a project myself. Other than that, I am composing a calender by searching pictures of former projects and writing texts about them and I am writing a little broshure about Germany for Polish volunteers and trainees. Very soon, I am going to take care of the placement of volunteers at the workcamps, because the other trainee has to go back home... with a heavy heart - like everybody who once was here. | |
| KATHARINA KLOTZ (16.06-16.08.2007) I studied one year in Toruń. During that time I got to know MOTYKA and I liked it that much, that I decided to stay two more months for an internship. J Together with Norman, I have already renovated the bureau and we carried tons of cookies to a closing ceremonie of a school project. Now I am taking care of the organisation of the workcamps. That means, that I am placing Polish volunteers at camps in Germany and Eastern Europe. If I shouldn't be in the bureau, you will find me in the youth club "Kameleon" - there I am beautifying the holidays of some Polish students by teaching them English (and sometimes they are teaching me Polish). Unfortunately, I have to be back at the university in Germany in autumn. But Frankfurt an der Oder is not too far away, I am sure I will visit MOTYKA - just be aware! ;) | | KATI WENZEL (11.02.-11.05.2008) I’m involved with Poland only since a short period of time. Originally I studied translation English/Czech. During the last year I but got to know some incredibly awesome people from Poland and so I now want to learn this language as well. Since mid-February I am working at MOTYKA as Leonardo-trainee and until May I will support the people of the organisation in all the things, that have to be done here. With my new but old bicycle I’m getting to know Torun better and better. I am a big fan of international youth projects and at the moment I am organising a sound project, which is going to take place from May 10th to May 16th. | | Kuba Gołębiewski (01.04 - 30.09.2009) It seams I am the first Polish trainee in the association. During my long long studies in Torun I have heard of Motyka many times. I even attended few meetings but never managed to be more consistent. Eventually a girl from Torun made me settle here and so I 'moticized' myself. In Motyka I want to work on a project that would promote responsable and sustainable consumption. While I am here I invite everyone to join this initiative! Ah, I have never expected so many Germans could speak Polish. They're everywhere! |
Do you want to join us? Just let us know! |
